Superb Shutters range of Plantation Shutters is diverse & made from only the finest Timbers & Synthetic materials. Timbers are cultivated with forest sustainability, climate change & the environment all in mind. The Timbers are quarter-sawn to minimise warping & twisting. All structural joints are mortise & tenon, as used by only the finest furniture craftsman. Finishing to high standards requires sanding by hand, between coats, to ensure an even colour.
Woodlore - Polycoated MDF – Medium Density Fibreboard
Australian made timber combines residual fibres & glue, then compressed using high temperature & pressure to form various parts of the shutter. It is then coated with a patented polypropylene to stop the release of Volatile Organic Chemical Compounds (VOC) into the air. Final coats of lead free paint include UV inhibitors to protect the colour from fading.
Woodlore Plus - ABS Synthetic - Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene – Excellent in wet areas
Is made by copolymerizing (combining two or more monomers)(organic molecules) Acrylonitrile & styrene which is then dissolved in polybutadiene rubber to create a very stong & durable synthetic material. ABS is used to totally encase the timber core of the shutter parts, making them moisture resistant & ideal for bathrooms kitchens & laundries.
Normandy - Phoenixwood - Hardwood Timber – Strongest wood to weight ratio
This timber comes from the Paulownia tree family, indigenous to China, has been used to produce fine furniture for over a thousand years. It is extremely fast growing & can be harvested between 4 to 7 years. The “Phoenix” regenerates from its existing root system after harvesting. Australia is one of several countries using this tree in reforestation projects.
Prescription Wood Conditioning
To reduce the chance of shrinking & swelling, all imported timber is subjected to a patented wood drying technique – Prescription Wood Conditioning – which emulates the environment of the shutters final destination.
